The entirely redesigned version of our groundbreaking all-in-one software, Planmeca Romexis®, is now available for orders.
Version 6.0 features a modern look and feel that highlights usability. The easy navigation with fewer clicks and a customisable user interface streamline the workflow. Romexis 6.0 also includes a wide selection of new tools and features, and introduces flexible workflow wizards that make using the software easy and enjoyable from day one.
NEW! Modern look and feel with improvements in usability
NEW! Workflow wizards
NEW! Single image browser for all patient images
NEW! Floating 2D image windows
NEW! Implant libraries
We have increased the contrast and size of icons and texts so that they are easier to read, understand and click on. The new icon set has been simplified to make the icons more recognizable.
Colour is used sparingly to draw attention to important elements and to elements we wish the user to interact with. Light blue is used to indicate important selections and points where attention is needed.
Romexis® has both light and dark modes. For the modules that use x-ray images, such as 2D and 3D Imaging, the UI is dark and for the rest, it is light.
The toolbars and individual tools can be hidden in all modules with a right-click on the menu, on the upper toolbar as well as on the side toolbar.
A preview of all patient images including 2D, 3D and surface models is shown on the patient list. Images can be opened directly from the preview by clicking on them.
Image capturing or intraoral scanning can be started in the patient view, from the right-click menu.
Romexis 6.0 introduces a single image browser for all image types, including 2D and 3D images, CAD/CAM cases, Romexis®Model Analyser cases, Romexis®Smile Design cases and attachments, such as videos and PDFs. The image browser provides different view modes for image thumbnails, and images can be filtered by tooth number, date and category.
Any type of image capturing or intraoral scanning can be started from the upper tool bar in the Patient File module.
Any type of images or data can be imported to Romexis® from the Patient File module. In addition, all images can be exported from the File module in the original format.
Romexis® 6.0 supports video and photo capturing from the Planmeca Solanna™ Vision operation light. Images and videos are stored in the 2D module; photos under the photo category and videos under attachments. Planmeca Solanna Vision images can also be used in the Romexis®Smile Design module.
Romexis 6.0 introduces a new feature for creating a floating window of any 2D image. A simple double-click on an image opens it in a new window which can be dragged to another screen, viewed in the 3D module or Romexis Smile Design module. It is also possible to create multiple floating windows of 2D images, which is a useful feature for comparing two images from a study template.

Romexis® 6.0 brings several improvements to the usability and look and feel of the study templates.
Showing the date and the tooth numbers, the image title bar has been simplified. In addition, the tools only appear when the mouse is hovered over them.
The image browser in the 2D module has been simplified. Images can be filtered by tooth number, date and category.
The 3D submodules can now be accessed using the buttons in the upper part of the screen.
There is a new two-step maximise feature in the Explorer module, which allows maximising one view and at the same time keeping the other views visible in a smaller size. The second click on the maximise icon maximises the view to a full size, and the third click restores the view to the original.
The 3D rendered view has a new slider for cropping the view. In the earlier versions, cropping was done with a right-mouse drag, which has now been removed. In addition, new quick orientation buttons have been added to the 3D rendering view.
The fit model tool has been moved from the upper toolbar to the side toolbar. The mouse action has been changed from the earlier Romexis® versions: clicking on the matching points can be done with a mouse left-click and rotation with a right-click.
The scan abutments can now be exported in STL format together with the intraoral scan with Export Objects function. The exported scan and the scan abutment can be used in a 3rd party software for designing pre-surgical restorations, for example.
The new AI-based tool uses the patient’s iris for aligning and cropping the image and for positioning the teeth silhouette.
Romexis® 6.0 introduces a new measurement tool for three-dimensional curve measurements using two or more points. It can be used, for example, for measuring the palate.
Lab order forms can be created in PDF format using the Lab order form feature.
The new Romexis®Model Analyser allows continuing scanning at any time later on.
Intraoral scans scanned in the Romexis Model Analyser module are also automatically visible in the CAD/CAM module list and can be used for design and milling.
The import options have been collected under a single Import button in the upper toolbar.
Romexis® 6.0 features a direct TruAbutment order integration using Romexis® Cloud.
Romexis® 6.0 introduces a new concept for ensuring the efficient use of the software from day one. The workflow wizards guide the user through certain workflows step by step, yet enabling the user to flexibly use all other tools in the software. When using a wizard, the user can, at any stage, decide to use any other tools as well and then return to the wizard steps.
The Implant Planning workflow wizard guides the user in performing top-down implant planning starting from opening the image to the actual guide design. The wizard includes actual buttons for action and short tutorial GIF videos to guide the user through the steps.
The Smile Design workflow wizard guides the user through a standard smile design process in Romexis. The process starts with importing an image and ends in creating a report of the design.

Romexis®Viewer also features a new look and feel both in the Romexis Viewer launcher and in the Romexis Viewer application.
Romexis Viewer has a new module showing all patient images in categories.
The new software version includes a complete redesign of the user interface, visualisation of the intraoral scans in the virtual setup using true colours as well as the inclusion of multiple bracket manufacturers in the bracket library, among many other new features and improvements.
The colours of the Romexis® Cephalometric Analysis module have been changed and now align well with the dark mode of Romexis® 6.0. All icons and toolbars have also been redesigned for improved usability.
The Ricketts’ growth prediction analysis has been implemented into the Analysis sub module and is now part of the same document as analysis and VTO.
Cephalometric analyses, growth analyses and cephalometric VTOs now appear in the same document in the timeline in the 2D module and Cephalometric Analysis module. Previously, these were shown as separate documents.
Old cases: Analysis, VTO and superimposition as separate documents
New cases: Analysis, growth and VTO inside the same document, superimposition separately
