A new version of Planmeca PlanCAD® Easy scan and design software is now available! The new release introduces a new AI-based buccal alignment feature, which gives users a more predictable high-accuracy occlusion. We have also added language support for a group of selected languages to increase user comfort and usability of the software. The new software also supports the Planmeca Cariosity™ transillumination scanner tip, which will be available for orders later.
The new buccal bite alignment function can be used after the buccal scan by clicking on the buccal refinement button in the Scan tab. The new function makes an automatic 3-point cusp alignment and fixes the bite in most cases. The user can toggle between the two ways of buccal alignment by clicking on the buccal refinement button again and choose the one that is more suitable for the case.
Besides English, the software is now also available in Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.
The software now supports new materials, which can be selected for a case:
• VITABLOCS Mark II, size 12
• VOCO Grandio blocs*
• Tokuyama Estelite P Block**
• Yamakin KZR-CAD**
The above-mentioned materials are currently only supported by Planmeca PlanMill® 30 S and will become available for Planmeca PlanMill® 40 S later.
*for EU and North American markets
**for Japan market
3oxz and PLY file formats are now supported for export to 3Shape and exocad software.
The button functionalities of Planmeca Emerald™ S and Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanners have been modified. With the new software version, a short press on the lower button during the scan takes a snapshot while a long press turns the Active Delete function on or off.
In the previous software versions, it was the other way around. In the new software version, there are also helpful on-screen visualisations for the button controls
The new software version now supports the use of Planmeca Cariosity™ tip with Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanners. The Planmeca Cariosity tip can be used to visualise cracks and fractures in the patient’s teeth, and it helps detect supragingival proximal carious lesions and monitor their progression. The tips are autoclavable and connected to the scanner the same way as the other scanner tips. See Attaching / removing scanner tip in the user’s manual and Tip infection control procedure quick guide for more information.
The tip will be available for orders once the device has received EU MDR approval.
