The 3D Region Growing tool can be used to approximate the area and volume of different anatomical structures. It can be used for example to estimate the volume of sinus lifts or to evaluate the shape and volume of airways. The Region Growing tool displays the calculated volume in the ROI info boxes among other statistics.
With the new Planmeca Romexis® 3.2.R, the 3D Region Growing tool can also be used to color airways based on the area of each axial slice. For example, an airway could be colored so that the narrowest passages with the smallest area are highlighted in red and the actual area is shown in each cross section.
The ROI info box now has two different modes showing only the volume and area of the ROI or alternatively more extensive statistical information. The user can toggle between these modes by clicking inside the ROI. The volume of the ROI is now also displayed as cm³ instead of mm³.
With the new Panoramic AutoFit button, Planmeca Romexis automatically places a panoramic curve (focal layer) on the 3D volume. The Panoramic Autofit automatically identifies the occlusal level in the volume and intelligently places the panoramic curve (focal layer) on the patient’s anatomical dental arch. The Panoramic Autofit tool also optimises the maxillar and mandibular ranges of the panoramic view so that empty data is excluded.
The new ROI marker tools make it easy to select the region of interest in a Planmeca ProFace® image or STL file. ROI markers can be used to:
The size of the markers can be modified (mouse wheel) and the image rotated (holding Alt-key) while still keeping the tool activated.
